Hi! I’m Amanda! I’m an Academic Coach with Staying Ahead of the Game LLC. I hold a B.A. in Communication from Southwestern University, an M.A. in Communication with a graduate certificate in Gender & Women’s Studies from the University of Houston, and a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Maryland, College Park.
My background is rooted in higher education, where I taught undergraduate and graduate courses in communication, media studies, journalism, public speaking, and gender and race studies. I chose to coach with SAOTG because I wanted to transition out of higher education while continuing to work closely with students in meaningful ways. SAOTG’s evidence-based, student-centered approach aligns deeply with my teaching philosophy and pedagogy.
What I love most about coaching is facilitating both academic and personal growth while continuing to learn alongside my students and their families. I hope to help students understand that learning looks different for everyone and that success comes from identifying their individual strengths, needs, and learning styles rather than forcing themselves into a one-size-fits-all model.
