Encouraging, Adaptable, Empowering
Hi! I’m Katya! I’m an Academic Coach with Staying Ahead of the Game LLC. I earned my B.A. in Legal Communications from Howard University and went on to earn my master’s degree. I have eight years of experience in education, including teaching ELA and writing, working as an instructional coach for middle and high school courses, and supporting STAAR Math and Reading. I currently work on the administrative side of a school district, focusing on training design, resource creation, and project management.
I chose SAOTG because I believe executive functioning skills help students succeed far beyond the classroom. What I love most about coaching is gradually giving students the tools they need and then watching them apply those strategies independently and confidently. I hope to help students develop a growth mindset, understand that mistakes are part of learning, and recognize that they don’t have to stay stuck when they’re having a difficult day.
