Hi! I’m Tia! I am an Academic Coach for Staying Ahead of the Game LLC. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Houston, and a Masters in Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University. I am certified in both general and special education. I have taught for over 10 years in a variety of settings. I believe that school is important for students to develop skills and interests in a safe and forgiving environment that will transfer to real world experiences. School provides exposure to subjects students might not otherwise encounter. Schools also provide structure and challenges. If a student can navigate these challenges with the appropriate support, they will be equipped to handle themselves in society and the workplace with confidence. I aim to pass on the lesson that consistency and persistence are key to obtaining goals both in and out of the classroom. My favorite part of coaching is the connections built between coach and student. I am invested in their success as much as the students and family are and will celebrate their achievements loudly and proudly!
