Proactive, Gracious, Adventurer

Hi! I’m Iris! I am an Academic Coach for Staying Ahead of the Game!, LLC. I graduated from the University of Texas – Arlington with degrees in French and Spanish, while also minoring in Linguistics and German. I also have my certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). As you can see, I am very passionate about languages and plan to learn more! I have had two incredible study abroad experiences living in Paris and Berlin. The ability to travel and learn different cultures is very important to me. Since I love to learn, my goal is to help students find learning fun too. I work hard to engage my students in a way that is positive and leading them to success.

Some advice I give to students is to breathe! I remind them that they are capable of a lot more than they think. They just have to have confidence and know when to ask for help. I learned these skills when I lived in Paris. It was my first time traveling by myself and I was nervous about the culture shock, language barrier, and not having any family around. However, I made the most of the experience by doing a lot of research, immersing myself in the Parisian culture, and problem solving when I hit roadblocks. It is truly one of the best experiences of my life!
