Honest, Curious, Adaptable

Hi! I’m Simone, an Onboarding Specialist and Academic Coach with Staying Ahead of the Game LLC. I hold dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Philosophy and a Master’s in Philosophy from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a focus on education, ethics, and critical thinking. My undergraduate thesis on Plato’s theory of education continues to inform everything I do as a coach.

For over a decade and across four continents, I’ve built a career on a love of learning. I’ve taught English as a Second Language and served as an Academic Coach in South Africa, South Korea, and Texas, including adult ESL at Lone Star College-Cy-Fair, with a focus on academic writing, comprehension, and speaking. My students have ranged from K-12 learners to college students and adults, and I’ve supported many through standardized test preparation and graduate school applications.

I believe education is a lifelong journey of discovery, and I’m currently pursuing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology to deepen my understanding of how students learn, focus, grow, and understand themselves. My goal is simple: to meet every student where they are, in their unique learning language, and help equip them with the tools and habits of mind to thrive in life.
